Hyrox is the ultimate fitness competition for those who crave a true test of endurance, strength, and mental grit. Combining high-intensity cardio with functional strength exercises, Hyrox offers a uniquely balanced challenge designed to push athletes of all levels to their limits—and beyond.

Every Hyrox race follows the same adrenaline-pumping structure:

  • Run 1 km → Complete a Functional Workout → Repeat 8 Times.

This means you'll tackle 8 kilometers of running paired with 8 distinct strength stations, creating a relentless, full-body challenge that rewards both speed and power.

  1. 1,000m Ski Erg: Full-body endurance and pacing.
  2. 50m Sled Push: Leg power, core stability, mental resilience.
  3. 50m Sled Pull: Back, glute, and grip strength.
  4. 80m Burpee Broad Jumps: Explosive power, agility, stamina.
  5. 1,000m Rowing: Cardiovascular capacity, coordination.
  6. 200m Farmers Carry: Grip strength, stability, mental focus.
  7. 100m Sandbag Lunges: Leg endurance, balance, pain tolerance.
  8. 100 Wall Balls: Full-body power, rhythm, grit to finish strong.

Hyrox isn’t just for elite athletes. With divisions for all skill levels:

  • Individual (Men’s/Women’s Pro or Open)
  • Doubles/Mixed Doubles (split work with a partner)
  • Relay Teams (4-6 members)
  • Scaled Options (lighter weights in Open division)
  • Age Group Categories (fair competition for all ages)

About Me

I'm Richard, a 50-something personal trainer and HYROX performance coach based in Cardiff. Back in the day, I was lucky enough to represent Wales and Great Britain, competing in international competitions – and I’ve never really stopped moving since.

These days, as well as chasing medals, I’m chasing longevity – working around the usual aches and niggles that come with age. I know first-hand what it takes to stay strong, injury-free, and motivated as we get older.

With over 20 years of personal training experience, I now help people of all shapes, sizes and abilities discover what they're capable of – whether you're new to fitness or looking for your next challenge.
